When: March Attendance: 12,200 Price: $40 Location: Hilton Atlanta MomoCon was originally started by, and continues to be operated by the Anime O-tekku club of Georgia Tech. Each year, the convention has a new theme, ranging from “Southern hospitality” to "dinosaurs." Featured events include the MomoCon LAN party and a Craftsmanship Costume Contest. MomoCon also hosts local events in the area leading up to the convention, including gaming festivals and ice-skating events in the Georgia Tech and Atlanta region.One of the most popular conventions in the Southeast, it is currently listed as the 10th largest anime convention in the US. |

When: March/April Attendance: 20,000 Price: $60 Location: Washington State Convention & Trade Center Started by the Asia Northwest Cultural Education Association in 1998, Sakura-Con is the oldest anime convention in the Pacific Northwest. Unique events include Cosplay Chess and a Manga Library, where attendees can check in during the convention and read English and Japanese manga, as well as cosplay reference books. |

When: May Attendance: 22,000 Price: $60 Location: Hynes Convention Center Started in 2003 by the New England Anime Society, Anime Boston is currently the largest convention in the Northeast. It was named the “Best Nerd Gathering” by the Boston Phoenix in 2011. Anime Boston has its own mascots called A-chan and B-kun, whose outfits change each year to match the convention’s theme. Event programming includes live gaming, an anime art show, and a blood drive held in conjunction with the convention. |

Featured events include the Black-and-White ball, where attendees dress up in their finest gowns and suits and dance the night away; a karaoke contest, and a MusicFest of Japanese pop music that has featured performers such as Yuya Matsushita and FLOW. |

When: July Attendance: 49,400 Price: $65 Location: Los Angeles Conventions Center Anime Expo, organized by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA), is currently the largest anime convention in the US and has been held in locations ranging from Tokyo to New York! Its most popular attractions include a Battle of the Bands and a Charity Auction, as well as high-profile Guests of Honor including music artists and voice actors from both the American and Japanese anime industries. |
